Dear Union Members,
This email is a critical reminder of your rights as a member of our union.
You are NEVER obligated to waive your right to union representation. This is a fundamental principle that protects you in the workplace, even when you are on probation.
Specifically, if you are asked to attend a meeting with management that could lead to disciplinary action, or if you are asked to sign any document that will be placed in your personnel file, you always have the right to request a union representative to be present.
When in doubt, your immediate response should be to calmly and clearly state: "I would like to have a union representative present."
If management refuses your request for a representative and continues with the meeting, any punishment that follows is considered a violation of your Weingarten Rights. This is a serious violation of labor law.
Do not sign any document that you are not comfortable with. Our purpose is to ensure your rights are protected and that all processes are fair. If you are ever in this situation, please reach out to one of your union representatives immediately. We are here to support you.
